SC Declines Permission To Carry Out Muharram Processions Across Country

The Supreme Court has rejected the petition filed for the procession of Muharram across the country. A bench headed by Chief Justice SA Bobde said that the health of the people could be endangered due to the procession of Muharram across the country. He also said that if we allow the country to take out Zulu, anarchy will spread and a particular community will be accused of spreading the COVID-19 pandemic. The petition for the procession of Muharram was filed Shia religion guru Maulana Kalbe Jawad saying just as SC had allowed Lord Jagannath's yatra to be taken out, similarly, Muslims should also be allowed to take out a procession on the occasion of Muharram.
