The Special Investigation Team probing the Lakhimpur Kheri case has sought permission from the District Magistrate to change the sections of the IPC against all the accused and add new sections.

The Chief Investigating Officer of the SIT, Vidyaram Diwakar, has filed an application before the District Magistrate. It said that on October 3, the incident of car ramming of farmers at Tikonia in Lakhimpur Kheri was not due to negligence but was carried out with the intention of killing the protesting farmers as part of a 'planned conspiracy'.

In the application, permission has been sought to add an additional section against Union Minister Ajay Teni's son Ashish Mishra and 14 others so that all can be trialed for attempt to murder. Hearing the application of the SIT, the court has ordered all the accused to appear in the court today itself.
