The Supreme Court has announced its decision in the much anticipated Pegasus spyware case, and said that it has formed a three-member committee to investigate whether the spyware was used on private citizens, among other questions. It had made some sharp comments in the aftermath of the judgement, saying that the Centre had not taken a definite stance on the matter even when a basic right such as privacy had allegedly been violated.

Reactions By Political Leaders 

A range of political leaders also gave their opinions and comments on the Pegasus verdict. Rahul Gandhi of the Congress party, who had earlier accused the Home Minister of "treason" over the use of the spyware, reiterated that its authorozation could only have come from the PMO's or Home Minister's desk, and called such an activity "illegal". He promised to poursue this matter in Parliament as earlier. Gandhi also demanded Home Minister Amit Shah's resignation 

Subramaniam Swamy, the maverick BJP leader who often takes a stance against the grain of the party, compared the Pegasus scandal with Watergate, another such episode from 1970's USA wherein President Richard Nixon was implicated in spying on political opponents.
