The Janata Dal-United has fielded former state minister Manju Verma, who was forced to resign owing to reports of her husband’s alleged close links to Brajesh Thakur, main accused in the Muzaffarpur shelter home rape case, in the upcoming state Assembly polls. Mahila Congress President Sushmita Dev said, "BJP and JDU has made women's safety a laughing matter. It is a joke for them. I believe if PM Modi is serious about the safety of women in this country he must cancel Manju Verma's candidature." Ajay Jha reports
