Amid the controversy over Amazon Prime's Web series 'Tandav' which continues to battle charges, another show "Mirzapur" has landed in soup over allegations of "maligning the image of Uttar Pradesh".

The Supreme Court issued a notice to the makers and producers of the series and Amazon Prime on a plea about the portrayal of Mirzapur district in a poor light. The petitioner, SK Kumar, a resident of the town, complained to the top court that Mirzapur was shown as a den of terror and illegal activities.

A First Information Report (FIR) was filed against "Mirzapur" on Sunday night by journalist and writer Arvind Chaturvedi, whose hometown is the eastern UP district. The charge listed in the FIR is "deliberate and malicious intention of outraging religion feelings".
