Anticipating Election Day Turmoil, New York City Stores Board Up Glass Windows

Amid fears of potential unrest on the US Election Day, scores of New York City’s stores took no chances and boarded up until all the divisiveness and volatility is over.

Most visible storefronts in Soho, Midtown and other parts of Manhattan already fortified their glass windows with plywood ahead of November 3 face-off between President Trump and his rival Joe Biden. Shops that took extra precautions include Chanel, Moncler, Levi’s, Gucci, Dior, Tiffany among others. Also boarded up were storefronts of high-end retailers like Bloomingdale’s, Nordstrom, Saks Fifth Avenue, Louis Vuitton, Bergdorf Goodman, Dolce & Gabbana and Tourneau.

Over the last few days, the country is palpably on edge, with reports of ugly episodes coming to fore nationwide.
