At Least 35 Dead In Lightning Strikes In UP, Bihar And MP

At least 35 people died in lightning strikes in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday. Of these 15 people died in Bihar, 13 in UP and 7 in MP. 

Three people died each in Gopalganj, Bhojpur and Rohtas, two each in Saran, Kaimur and Vaishali due to lightning strikes. 

Expressing condolences over the deaths, CM Nitish Kumar immediately announced a compensation of Rs 4 lakh to the families of the deceased.

In UP, four deaths were reported in Ghazipur, three in Kaushambi, two each in Kushinagar and Chitrakoot and one death each in Jaunpur and Chandauli.

The UP government has also announced financial assistance of Rs. 4 lakh to the kin of all the deceased.

In MP, 7 deaths were reported in Damoh which included three members of the same family, while one is critically injured. 

CM Shivraj Singh Chauhan condoled the death of 7 people in Damoh but has not announced any compensation for the families of those who died.
