Bhagwant Mann Announces Punjab MLAs To Get Pension For Only 1 Term

Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann said on Friday that all MLAs and ex-MLAs in the state will receive a pension for only one term, regardless of how many times they are elected. He also stated that the stipend paid to MLAs' families will be reduced.

"Punjab MLAs and ex-MLAs will only be eligible for a pension for one term, regardless of how many times they are elected." In addition, allowances paid to MLAs' families would be reduced," he stated in a video speech.

Mann, who was sworn in as Punjab's chief minister last week, has pledged lots of new reforms for the state. Mann said on Tuesday that his administration will regularise the employment of 35,000 contractual employees, only days after announcing plans to fill 25,000 positions in government departments.

He also promised 10,000 employment in the Punjab Police Department, with the remainder in other sectors such as boards and businesses.

In the recently concluded Punjab assembly elections, the AAP gained a stunning 92 seats out of a total of 177, beating the Congress. Mann, who was running in the Dhuri Assembly constituency in Sangrur district, beat Congress candidate Dalvir Singh Goldy by almost 58,000 votes.
