BJP Sweep Uttarakhand: How The Saffron Party Bagged The State

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is on the verge of winning the Uttarakhand assembly elections for the second time. The opposition party appears to be gaining 48 seats while the ruling party appears to be losing 9. From his Bhuvan Chandra Kapri seat in Khatima, CM Dhami is lagging by 7,000 votes.

On the other hand, former state chief minister Harish Rawat, who was leading the Congress in the polls, was trailing BJP candidate Mohan Singh Bisht by more than 16 thousand votes, and has already conceded defeat.

The BJP won 57 seats in the 2017 assembly elections, the Congress 11, and independents two. In percentage terms, the BJP received 46.5 % of the vote, the Congress 33.5 percent, Independents 10%, BSP 7%, and others 3%.

The saffron party, on the other hand, replaced its chief ministers four times later. This indicates that the party has little faith in their chances of winning. Now the question is, what was the cause of the BJP's recent victory?

LPG cylinder prices would be kept below Rs 500, according to the Congress party's election plan. Aside from that, the Congress pledged jobs, economic assistance to 500,000 families, improved health care, and a 40% reservation for women in government jobs.
