Congress Forms New Committees, Convention On May 13-15th For Lok Sabha 2024 Polls

The Congress party is reportedly ramping up its preparations for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, as poll strategist Prashant Kishor has been publicly communicating with the Congress although the details thereof are not clear yet. Amid this, party spokesperson Randeep Surjewala said today that the party will convene a ‘Chintan Shivir’, or ‘brainstorming convention’, on May 13th to 15th in Udaipur, Rajasthan.

He said that party president Sonia Gandhi discussed a report from an eight-member group constituted by her that she received on April 21st, and based on that report, Mrs. Gandhi constituted committees under various headings, which includes members of the G-23 or Congress ‘old guard’.

The committees constituted by the Congress to rejuvenate its organization and political strategy ahead of the general elections in 2024 are as follows:

The G-23 group of senior Congress leaders had been in the media spotlight after their reported disgruntlement with the leadership for its severe losses in Assembly elections which concluded in March this year. However, there was no change in leadership and Sonia Gandhi resumed her presidency of the party, after pushback from ‘Gandhi loyalists’ within the party like Ajay Maken and MP Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury.
