Deep Sidhu A BJP Worker, Not A Sikh: Farmer Leader Rakesh Tikait

After a day of clashes during farmers' tractor protest on Republic Day, Bharatiya Kisan Union leader Rakesh Tikait on Wednesday said that actor Deep Sidhu, who has been accused by several farmer leaders of inciting protesters during the violence in Delhi, is not a Sikh as he is a BJP worker.

"Deep Sidhu is not a Sikh, he is a worker of the BJP. There is a picture of him with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Those who created violence and unfurled flags at Red Fort will have to pay for their deeds," Tikait said. Responding to a viral video where he was seen appealing to his supporters to be armed with lathis, Tikait said, "We said bring your own sticks. Please show me a flag without a stick, I will accept my mistake."

Punjabi actor Deep Sidhu, who campaigned for the BJP’s Sunny Deol in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, and gangster Lakha Sidhana came to Delhi two days ago and gave a provocative speech to the protesters at the Singhu border. Farmer leaders have alleged that Deep Sidhu led the protesters to the Red Fort.

"Some miscreants joined the protest to defame farmers' movement. We did not plan to unfurl the flags at Red Fort, this was not our program. Deep Sidhu's photo with the PM has floated, we had already expressed doubt over him," said SS Pandher of Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee.
