‘Even Mohan Bhagwat Will Be Called Terrorist If He Spoke Against Modi Govt’: Rahul Gandhi

Following a meeting with the President Ram Nath Kovind along with party MPs Ghulam Nabi Azad and Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, seeking withdrawal of the recently-enacted farm laws, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Thursday came down heavily on the Modi government, saying "anyone who raises voice against the government have always been labelled "terrorists, anti-nationals and criminals”, “even if it were (RSS chief) Mohan Bhagwat”.

"PM Modi is making money for the crony capitalists. Whoever will try to stand against him will be called a terrorist - be it farmers, labourers and even Mohan Bhagwat," the Congress leader said.

He also said that "there is no democracy in India". “India is walking on a dangerous path. Being detained, beaten is a norm for this government. Democracy is a figment of imagination in this country. It only exists in our dreams, not in reality,” Gandhi said.

"Make no mistake these farmers will not go back till their demands are met. We stand alongside our farmer brothers and sisters. We are opposing the three farm laws. The way in which these laws were passed without debating and without discussing it with farmers and labourers shows it was undemocratic in nature," he added.

The Congress leaders also said that he met with the President with two crore signatures. "We have taken the voice of farmers to the President. It is winter season and the entire country is watching that the farmers are in pain, many of them are dying and the Prime Minister (Narendra Modi) has to listen to them, " he said.
