Farmers, Centre Talks: 10th Round Fails To End Impasse, Unions Firm On Laws Repeal. Next Meet On Jan 22

The tenth round of talks between farmer unions and the Central government over the three farm laws at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi failed to end the deadlock even as the Centre offered to carry out some amendments but the farmer leaders stuck to their demand for a full repeal of the farm legislation. The next round of the meeting to take place on January 22.

Farmers unions also raised the issue of NIA notices being served to farmers under sedition and UAPA and accused the Government of avoiding discussion on Minimum Support Price (MSP).

“The government offered to carry out some amendments, but farmer leaders maintained they do not want anything less than a complete repeal of the laws,” farmer leader Rakesh Tikait said.

Another farmer leader said the Govt is ready to put farm laws on hold for 1.5 years but they rejected the offer, saying they want nothing less than complete rollback.
