Free Ration Scheme Extended By 3 Months, CM Yogi Adityanath Announced In First Cabinet Meeting

Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath, in the first cabinet meeting today announced his government’s decision to extend the free ration scheme by three months.

The scheme “Modi ka namak” and was a hit among people, especially women voters was was supposed to expire in March 2022, but the cabinet has decided to extend the scheme for 15 crore people of the state.

Nearly 15 crore beneficiaries are provided ration per month free of cost under two schemes – the PMGKAY and the National Food Security Act (NFSA), 2013.

Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya said that for the scheme the government will spend ₹ 3,270 crore.

"Free ration will be given in UP for three months. We have taken this decision keeping in mind the poor. The policies of the central and state government have to be reached to the people," Brijesh Pathak, the Deputy Chief Minister in the new government said.
