IMD Forecasts Peak Of Cold Wave Up To “Severe” Today, Delhi Rains In February

The northwest and central parts of the country, including the states of Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, will see a cold wave that can go up to the ‘severe’ category today, the Indian Metrological Department (IMD) has said in its latest bulletin, but temperatures are likely to improve after January 30th.

The national capital Delhi and its neighbouring is also forecasted to receive rain between February 2nd to 4th, along with Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh. The minimum temperature recorded on Friday was 6.4 degrees Celsius and the maximum reached 20.6 degrees Celsius according to the IMD.

Surface wind speeds of 15-25 km/h whave been predicted for today and tomorrow (January 29th and 30th) over Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana and Delhi.

Dense fog conditions have also been predicted for Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Uttarakhand, and eastern Uttar Pradesh during night and morning within 48 hours. Isolated thunderstorms, lightining, and rainfall have been predicted in the northeastern states of Sikkim, Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura, Nagaland, Manipur and Mizoram.

Light rainfall has also been predicted over coastal states of Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala. Light or moderate rainfall has been predicted over Bihar, Jharkhand, Sikkim and West Bengal on February 3 and 4.
