India-China Border: 15th Round Of Corps Commander Level Meeting Held Today

The Indian and Chinese military held the 15th round of Corps Commander Level Meeting at the Chushul-Moldo border meeting point to discuss disengagement agreement at Patrol Point 15 in the Gogra-Hot Springs area, as well as overall de-escalation along the LAC (Line of Actual Control). The previous, i.e., 14th round was held on January 13th this year.

The 15th round of talks began today at 10 AM. Ahead of the talks, the defense establishment expressed confidence in a positive outcome of the talks according to media sources. The talks have been going on ever since the stand-off between India and China at the Galwan Valley in May 2020. Disengagement had been achieved from both sides of the Pangong Tso lake in February 2021, and at Patrolling Point 17 in the Gogra area in August 2021.

The three areas still under contention are Hot Springs, Demchok, and Depsang in the eastern Ladakh sector of the LAC. China insists  that Depsang and Demchok are not part of the current standoff, even as both countries have built up over 50,000 troops on both sides of the border.
