On Thursday, Sydney reported a record number of new daily delta variant cases. Authorities are set to enforce stay-at-home orders that would go beyond Sydney as COVID-19 spreads into other regions.
New South Wales recorded 262 new cases out of which the majority were in Sydney that has been in lockdown for almost six weeks.
Premier of New South Wales Gladys Berejiklian said, “Every jurisdiction around the world is finding delta challenging. We can try and eliminate it but we know the vaccine is critical to stopping the spread."
