Spelling the end of Christmas-New Year festivities, the Maharashtra government on Monday announced a return of night curfew from 11 pm to 6 am for 15 days starting December 22, and announced new quarantine rules for arrivals from Europe and the Middle East, amidst the huge global scare over a new strain of COVID-19 virus detected in the UK.

Around 1,000 people are expected to arrive in five flights landing till midnight December 22, when the centre's ban on incoming flights from the UK takes effect, authorities said.
Passengers from European or Middle East nations will be sent to 14-day institutional quarantine, and all others must home-isolate for a similar period.
