Rahul Gandhi Corners Govt. On

Today in Parliament, Rahul Gandhi sought to corner the government on its stance that it has “no data” on the farmers who died during their agitation and therefore cpuld not provide any compensation. In response, Gandhi held out a list of 400 farmers who had been compensated with ₹5 lakh each on part of the Punjab government. He had promised to do so at an earlier press conference at AICC headquarters, New Delhi:

Rahul Gandhi presented the list of farmers who had died in the ongoing farmers’ movement and said that “I want that they should get their rights, they should receive compensation and employment”.

There was a furore after Gandhi’s statement with many members seeking to make a statement as a reponse but the Speaker died them and moved on to Thallikotai R. Baalu, an MP of the DMK party representing Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu. He raised the issue of flooding in the state and asked that the matter be listed for discussion urgently.
