Union Minister Smriti Irani was confronted by Mahila Congress leader Netta D’Souza onboard a flight to Guwahati. The incident was posted by Ms. D’Souza on Twitter. In the video, she can be heard saying “Happy Bihu without stoves, without gas, with increased rates,” and Irani responded with “Ma’am please don’t lie… you are misappropriating…”
She did not directly answer to D’Souza calling her out on LPG and petrol prices but instead mentioned free rations, and COVID vaccinations given by the government. D’Souza later said to the Hindustan Times that “It was very disappointing to hear that just because they (government) administered vaccines and distributed ration cards, it justifies the gas prices doubling or fuel price rising….. There is no logical reasoning to this.”

When asked about Unbearable Rising Prices of LPG, she blamed Vaccines, Raashan & even the poor!

Smriti Irani had protested against the rise in LPG cylinder prices from ₹415 to ₹435 in 2014 when the BJP came to power, and D’Souza referred to that and said: “As a citizen of the country, it’s my duty to bring it to the notice of the minister who must have forgotten what she did (protest) earlier… Was that just a gimmick to get into power?”
