Sumit Antil Wins Gold For India, Sets 3 World Records In Men’s Javelin F64 Event

India’s Sumit Antil has won a gold medal in the Men’s Javelin Throw F64 event at Tokyo in the Paralympics 2021. His was a stellar performance that set 3 world records within the same attempt. Antil’s first throw was 66.95 m, a world record, which he himself broke in the second attempt at 68.08 m, and topped that with a third world record at 68.55 m in his fifth attempt.

Hailing from Sonipat, Haryana, Antil was training to be a wrester when he met with a road accident in 2015. This si the 23-year old’s first appearance in the Paralympics. He has been coached by 2018 Asian Games shotput silver medallist Naval Singh.
