Torrent Power To Take Over Power Distribution Operations In Dadra & Nagar Haveli, Daman & Diu

Torrent Power stated on Friday that it had taken over the power distribution operations in the Union Territories (UTs) of Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu, one of the first UTs to be privatised under the government's scheme. 

Through the newly constituted Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu Power Distribution Corporation Limited, Torrent Power will now service about 150,000 customers in the UTs (DNHDD Power Distribution Company).

Torrent Power would control 51% of the new firm, while the administrator of the UT of Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu will possess the remaining 49%.

The newly formed DNHDD Power Distribution Company would have annual sales of 9 billion units of power and income of roughly Rs 4,500 crore, with a client base of around 150,000. 

With the addition of Dadra & Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu, Torrent Power will have a total customer base of 3.8 million across 12 cities, annual sales of 24 billion units of power, and a peak demand of 5000 MW across its licenced and franchised areas in Gujarat, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, and Dadra & Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu, according to Varun Mehta, executive director - Distribution, Torrent Power.

Torrent Power has previously acquired and managed distribution networks in Gujarat's Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, and Surat, Maharashtra's Bhiwandi, Shil, Mumbra, and Kalwa, and Uttar Pradesh's Agra.
