The United States Geological Survey (USGS) said that a 8.2 magnitude earthquake struck the Alaskan peninsula on late Wednesday.
This has led to the United States Tsunami Warning System issuing a tsunami warning for south Alaska and the Alaskan peninsula.
The US Tsunami Warning System in a statement said, “Hazardous tsunami waves for this earthquake are possible within the next three hours along some coasts.”
In October, a 7.5 magnitude earthquake had caused tsunami waves in Alaska’s southern coast but no casualties were reported.
