‘Unwarranted, Ill-Informed’: India Slams Canadian PM Trudeau’s Remarks On Farmers’ Stir

Shortly after Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau opined upon ongoing farmers' stir in India, the Ministry of External Affairs has slammed his remark, calling it "ill-informed" and 'unwarranted.'

MEA spokesperson Anurag Srivastava has said, "Such comments are unwarranted, especially when pertaining to the internal affairs of a democratic country. It is also best that diplomatic conversations are not misrepresented for political purposes."

Earlier in the day, Trudeau became the first global leader to voice his opinion on the ongoing farmers' protests in India. Backing Indian farmers on streets against the three farm laws, recently promulgated by the Central Government, he said “Canada will always be there to defend the rights of peaceful protesters, adding that the situation in the country is ‘concerning’.
