1 Infiltrator Shot Dead In Poonch Sector Of J&K, Says Army

The Indian Army has reportedly neutralized a militant in a foiled bid to infiltrate the Poonch sector of the LOC border in Jammu and Kashmir. The firefight and resulting death of the terrorist occurred in the early hours of today (Monday).  Defence Public Relation Officer Devender Anand said that "This action by alert Army troops displays the resolve of the Indian Army to thwart any misadventure along the LoC”

"In the early hours of August 30, terrorists from across the Line of Control made an attempt to infiltrate in the Poonch Sector. Alert Army troops detected the infiltration bid by effective use of the integrated surveillance grid in Poonch sector in the early hours of Monday”

Earlier, the Army had said that there were about 140 terrorists waiting to infiltrate the LOC, hiding at “launch pads” across the border. Pakistan on its part has repeatedly rejected these reports, and have called them excuses towards eventually scuttling the 2003 ceasefire between the two countries.
