Afghanistan Crisis May get Deepen Over Troop Pullout Deadline

The Taliban has warned of “consequences” if the slated US-NATO troop pull-out from Afghanistan is not completed by the agreed August 31 deadline. This news comes as France and Germany went on record to state that it needed time beyond the deadline in order to complete its evacuation.

A similar statement was made by U.S. President Joe Biden on 19th August when he said that American troops may stay back past the deadline to secure evacuations. He had said that: "if there's American citizens left, we're gonna stay till we get them all out". Meanwhile, the UK has said that the timeframe for evacuation out of Afghanistan is unlikely to be extended.

The United States has relocated around 53,000 people from Afghanistan, a majority of whom were rescued after the August 15 fall of Kabul.
