U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris began a trip to Asia on Sunday. She will offer reassurances of Washington’s commitment to the region after the chaotic US pullout from Afghanistan.
Her visit includes Singapore and Vietnam where she will seek to allay concerns about US dependability.
A senior US official said, “The vice president will make clear throughout the trip that we do have an enduring commitment to the region.”
She landed in Singapore on Sunday and is set to meet the city-state’s leaders on Monday.
