Australia’s Prime Minister Scott Morrison defended the country’s lockdown strategy on Sunday until at least 70 percent of the population is fully vaccinated.
The Australian police on Saturday had arrested hundreds of people during anti-lockdown demonstrations in Sydney and Melbourne that are under strict lockdown.
Scott Morrison said, “You can’t live with lockdown forever and at some point, you need to make that gear change and that is done at 70%.”
About 30 percent of the population over 16 has been fully vaccinated so far, as per the health ministry data released on Saturday.
