Assembly Election Results: Counting Begins For 5 States

Assembly elections in five states - Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Goa, Manipur, and Uttarakhand - will begin soon, with the Bharatiya Janata Party widely anticipated to win at least three of them.

According to exit polls, the BJP would maintain Uttar Pradesh and Manipur, as well as maybe Uttarakhand, with the contest for Goa expected to be close. The big surprise is Arvind Kejriwal's Aam Aadmi Party, which is poised to win Punjab.

All eyes are on the outcomes of the seven-phase Assembly elections held in Uttar Pradesh from February 10 to March 7 as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) seeks to retain power. The tally will begin at 8 a.m. on Thursday.

Allegations of EVM (electronic voting machine) fraud and tampering have already surfaced, with Akhilesh Yadav's Samajwadi Party accusing officials in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, of unlawfully moving the machines.

A nodal officer for EVMs in Varanasi, a returning officer (RO) in Sonbhadra district, and an extra election officer in Bareilly district have all been dismissed from electoral duty as a result of the complaint.
