Bihar: Student Who Appeared For NEET Exam In Patna Dies Of COVID-19

A Bihar student who appeared for NEET exam last week died of Coronavirus on Monday. 

The student had returned to her village Sakra in Muzaffarpur after appearing for the medical exam in Patna, afterwards, her health deteriorated. Her family then admitted her to Sri Krishna Medical College and Hospital (SKMCH) Muzaffarpur where she later succumbed..

According to the girl’s father, after returning to their village Sakra on September 13, she had a high fever and stomach pain. Then she was admitted to a COVID-19 hospital and was later referred to SKMCH Muzaffarpur and underwent a corona test. As her condition worsened and she died a few hours later. Post-death, her COVID-19 test was positive.

Out of her family members, two who came in contact with her, also tested positive. Her last rites will be performed as per the Corona protocol.

The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) attacked the Narendra Modi Government for not listening to their appeal to not conduct NEET-JEE exams amid pandemic.

Several opposition parties including the Chief Ministers of seven states had appealed to the Central Government to postpone the JEE-NEET examination. The matter went to the Supreme Court but the examination was not postponed. The government claimed that adequate arrangements were made to protect the lives of the students, but the death of the Muzaffarpur student raised serious questions.

About two lakh students were forced to miss the JEE-Main Exam due to the Coronavirus pandemic and floods, according to the data from the Ministry of Education.

Meanwhile, more than 15 students who failed to take the JEE-NEET exam committed suicide in Tamil Nadu.
