Former Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh confirmed today on Wednesday that he will float his own political party. His final years in the Congress party saw significant differences with state president Navjot Singh Sidhu which led to Captain Amarinder quitting as Punjab CM.
There had been talk of him forming his own political party ever since he left the Congress on grounds of “humiliation”.
Amarinder Singh has said that he is awaiting the Election Commission’s recognition of his party’s name and symbol. He said in a press conference: “yes, I am forming a party. I don’t know what its name will be, yet. We are waiting for the election commission which will decide its symbol.” He said that once the party was registered it would contest in all Assembly seats in the state.
He also went on to say that many Congress leaders were in line to join his party.
