Probe Begins On Corruption Allegations Against Sameer Wankhede

Mumbai police has initiated preliminary inquiries into the corruption charges levelled against Narcotics Control Bureau zonal director Sameer Wankhede. He has been accused of ‘extortion’ by an independent witness of the drug raid that resulted in actor Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan being locked up in Arthur Road Jail, Mumbai.

On Tuesday, a DCP-level Mumbai Police officer recorded the statement of Prabhakar Sail who has made the accusation, and the police will now investigate electronic evidence.

Officials will verify the places and names mentioned in Sail’s statement by going through CCTV footage. Sail’s phone is also being tapped following the recording of his statement.

Prabhakar Sail had alleged on Sunday that he had heard the other ‘panch’ witness (official witness) the drug raid talking about a deal to scuttle the case on Aryan Khan on payment of  ₹25 crore. He further claimed that Kiran Gosavi, the other witness, said that  ₹8 crore from this amount would go to Wankhede.
