The Congress is firefighting in Chhattisgarh, where Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel’s minister TS Singh Deo has laid claim to the post of Chief Minister, demanding rotational chief ministership. Both Bhupesh Baghel and Health Minister TS Singh Deo will meet Rahul Gandhi.
Mr Deo and his supporters insisted that rotational chief ministership was the deal when the party took power in December 2018. Mr Baghel’s government completed two-and-a-half years in office in June.
Mr Deo claims that he was promised the post of Chief Minister after Mr Baghel’s half-term and sources close to Mr Deo came that he will not settle for anything less. He will quit the government and maybe even the Congress if not made the chief minister, the sources added.
