The Citizens of Afghanistan who are living in India are protesting and pleading for help from the Centre. Citizens of Afghanistan have been fleeing to other countries for asylum since and before the Taliban captured Afghanistan. According to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, 3 million people have been displaced by the Taliban violence. These include people who have left the country and gone to other countries.
According to the data by the organization, Statista, most people are going to Pakistan for asylum from Afghanistan. Pakistan and Afghanistan share border and refugees prefer to go to a nearby country.
According to the data, there are 1,438,000 Afghan refugees living in Pakistan. Apart from these, 780,000 refugees are living in Iran and 148,000 in Germany. Data shows that there are 8000 Afghan refugees living in India. India has also made it clear that only non-Muslims coming from Afghanistan will get refuge.
