COVID-19: 33.57% Single Day Jump In Deaths on Tuesday 12,445 New Cases in 24 Hrs

The COVID-19 pandemic continues to claim lives and affect people in India. On Tuesday (3^rd August), India recorded 12,445 new cases of the coronavirus, while the death toll increased from 420 to 561, an increase of 33.57%.

India’s total tally of active cases stands at 3.18 crore, and the total deceased at 4.26 Lakh people.

1. Maharashtra has the highest total recorded death toll at 1.33 Lakh. The death toll on 3^rd August was 177, increasing by 87 in 24 hrs. The State’s active cases stand at 63.2 Lakh, increasing by 6005 in 24 hrs.
2. Kerala is facing a surge in coronavirus cases and deaths. The State added the highest number of new cases nationwide— 23,676, taking its total of active confirmed cases to 34.5 Lakh. 148 more people died in 24 hrs on 3^rd August, taking the death toll to 17,103.
3. Testing: 1,98,223 new tests conducted, total on Tuesday (3^rd Aug) is 18,47,518.
4. Vaccinations: 8,328 vaccines administered on 3^rd August, a decrease of 230 from the previous day (Monday total 8,558)
5. Positivity Ratio on Tuesday (3^rd Aug) at 3.6%, increased by 1.2% in 24 hrs.
