Deadline To Apply For EWS Admission In Delhi's Private Schools Extended Till April 18

The deadline for online applications for EWS/DG and CWSN seats in entry-level classes in private Delhi schools has been extended to April 18.

However, the first round of centralised computerised drawings, which was originally scheduled for April 11th, was postponed until April 19th. With this extension in the application window, however, it will only be done on April 26.

The application procedure and lots for 2021 are automated because a high number of seats in the Economically Weaker Section (EWS)/Deprived Groups (DG) and Children with Special Needs (CWSN) categories would remain empty even beyond December 31, 2021. The academic year Draw-2022 was held in March 2022, with the next academic year beginning on April 1.

According to the Right to Education Act (RTE), 25 percent of places in private school entry level classes are allotted for children from the EWS/DG and CWSN categories.

EWS refers to children whose yearly family income is less than Rs 1 lakh, whereas DG SC/ST/OBC refers to non-creamy layer/orphans, transgender, and HIV-positive children. These admissions are for entry-level courses at city-based private schools — Nursery, Kindergarten, or Class I, depending on the situation.
