Devendra Fadnavis, Demanding Resignation Of Nawab Malik, Taken Into Custody

Former Chief Minister of the state, Devendra Fadnavis detained by Maharashtra police today. Along with him, many BJP leaders have been taken into custody by the police. He was a part of BJP’s protest demanding the resignation of NCP leader and minister, Nawab Malik.

According to some media reports, Fadnavis was marching towards the Mumbai Metro Junction while demonstrating, when the police took him into custody.

NCL leader and minister Nawab Malik was arrested by the ED on February 24th on charges of money laundering. He was earlier accused by the ED of money laundering of Rs 55 lakh. However, in the subsequent hearing before the court, the ED had apologized and said that the matter was only of five lakh rupees, whereas this talk was raised in the media against Malik after the ED's claim of money laundering of 55 lakhs.

He has been sent to judicial custody till March 21. Since his arrest the opposition BJP has been continuously demanding his resignation.

However, Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut had supported Nawab Malik and said that he is 'a true leader' and he will not resign, but will fight a legal battle.
