England defeated India in the 3rd test of the ongoing India tour of England. England won by an innings and 76 runs to level the series 1-1.
India had won the toss and decided to bat. They were bowled out for 78 with Rohit Sharma (19) being the top scorer. For England, James Anderson and Craig Overton took 3 wickets each.
England in their first innings put up a massive score of 432 led by an fine knock by captain Joe Root (121). Rory Burns (61), Haseeb Hameed (68) and Dawid Malan (70) all put up fine knocks for the hosts. Mohammed Shami took 4 wickets for the visitors.
India came out to bat knowing they had to put a far better performance than their first innings to have a chance of salvaging the test. India put a good batting performance on day 3 of the test but could not carry that momentum into the 4th day. Cheteshwar Pujara (91), Rohit Sharma (59) and Virat Kohli (55) put up fighting performances for the visitors but India came up short against England’s batting.
