Fire In Taiwan Multistorey Building Kills 46, Injures Dozens

A blaze broke out in a 13-storey mixed use building in southern Taiwan's Kaohsiung city which injured 41 and killed 46 people before being extinguished, accoridng to the local fire department. The maximum casualties and injuries happened in the building's residential section early on Thursday morning, on floors 7-11. 

Kaohsiung Fire Department chief Lee Ching-hsiu said that the fire broke ut around 3 AM on the first floor, travelled u to the sixth, and filled up the remaining part of the building with smoke which casued most of the casualties. Most of the dead were senior citizens and people with disabilities. The fire lasted for around 4 hours, beginning at 3 AM and continuing until a little apst 7 AM in the morning. 4 people have been summoned by police to investigate the cause of the fire.
