The alleged gang-rape and subsequent death of the Hathras victim in Uttar Pradesh has shocked and sparked protests across the country. It is being said that the case is not being properly investigated due to the girl belonging to the Dalit community. It is also being alleged that the UP government conducted the last rites in a hurry so that the evidence of the case could be erased.
As the entire village is cordoned off and the victim's family has been cut away from the outside world, members of the Thakur community have come out in support of the accused of murder and the alleged rape of the Dalit girl. People of the Thakur community in the village staged a protest and demanded a fair inquiry into the case. The upper caste men said that if they are guilty, they should be hanged. They also accused political parties of doing dirty politics.
