Jharkhand Coal Scam: Dilip Ray, Former Union Minister In NDA Govt, Sentenced To 3 Years In Jail

A special CBI court on Monday sentenced former Union Minister Dilip Ray to three years in jail in the 1999 Jharkhand coal scam case. The special CBI court has also ordered three years of imprisonment to two other people who were recently convicted.

This case is of the year 1999 when Ray was the state coal minister in Atal Bihari Vajpayee's government. Ray is alleged to have committed irregularities in the allocation of Jharkhand coal block.

Earlier this month, a special court in Delhi convicted Dilip Rai for criminal conspiracy and other offenses. The court then reserved its verdict for October 26 after hearing the arguments of the CBI and the convicts.
