Football Club Barcelona’s president, Joan Laporta on Friday said that Messi is considering offers from other clubs as negotiations between Messi and Barcelona are over.
Messi had reached an agreement with Barcelona over a new contract where he would earn 50 percent less per year but as per La Liga’s financial fair play rules, Barca had to restrict their salary limit to less than 200 million euros which was not possible with Messi’s salary. Hence, Barcelona came to a conclusion that the deal could not be completed with Messi.
Joan Laporta said, “I do not want to give false hope. The player has other offers and there is a time limit because La Liga starts soon and he needs time to assess his other options."
