Bajrang Muni, man who threatened to rape Muslim women in front of the mosque over loudspeakers and attempted to stir a gathering of youths, has been detained by the police.
The head of Maharishi Shri Laxman Das Udasi Ashram, which is located between Sitapur and Khairabad, around 100 kilometres from Lucknow, has been detained by UP Police.
Muni Das was detained 11 days after attempting to use loudspeakers to instigate a gathering of youth. During his hate rants, he threatened to rape Muslim women.
Last Friday, a two-minute video of his April 2 speech, in which he was apparently heard making rape threats, went viral, sparking a damning statement from the National Commission for Women.
The committee had demanded his arrest, claiming that the police could not remain silent in the face of such remarks.
An FIR was filed against him as a result of this. Bajrang Muni Das has been charged with hate speech, making offensive comments, and sexual harassment under the Indian Penal Code.
Muslim women opposed Bajrang Muni's statements in Khairabad, Uttar Pradesh, and demanded his arrest.

A video of Bajrang Muni apologising appeared on social media just hours after the complaint was filed. "My words have been misconstrued. I sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this has caused you "he stated
Such instances have occurred in the past, with a call for the genocide of Muslims being made. A big group of swordsmen assembled in front of the mosque, a Muslim sacred place, in Sarangpur, Madhya Pradesh, screaming Jai Shri Ram and abusing Muslims.
However, not only the state's Chief Minister, but also the police force, has remained silent on the issue. The cops are seen standing in front of the sword-wielding crowd in the popular footage. Many more events have occurred in which Muslims' homes, houses, and religious sites have been attacked while under the "protection" of the police.
