'Modi Govt Will Not Do Anything Against Farmers' Interests', Says Rajnath Singh Amid Growing Stir Against Farm Laws

On the growing opposition to the controversial agricultural law, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said that the Modi government will not do anything against farmers' interests. He said, 'Being the son of a farmer, I want to make it clear that the Modi government will not do anything against farmers' interests.'

Earlier in the Rajya Sabha, the Defence Minister described the bill as historic and said, 'I am also a farmer. I cannot believe in my life that the government will do something that will harm farmers.'

However, farmers say that the new law is a conspiracy to end the mandis in APMC (Agriculture Produce Market Committee) and that this will give a boost to private companies and they will not get the right price for their crops.
