North India Reels Under Cold Wave, Temperature In Srinagar Drops To Lowest In 8 Years

The north and northwestern regions of India are in the grip of a severe cold wave. This cold has broken the record of the last eight years in Srinagar. The temperature on Wednesday was recorded at minus 7.8 degrees in Srinagar, the lowest in 8 years.

The minimum temperature in Delhi was recorded at 3.2 degrees. In Delhi, the visibility has reduced considerably due to fog. The visibility level here has reached 50 metres. Due to this, traffic is getting affected. Ganganagar in Rajasthan recorded a minimum temperature of 0.2 degrees Celsius and the mercury in Mount Abu fell below zero on Tuesday. The cold wave continues to wreak havoc in Punjab and Haryana as well.

On the other hand, the Meteorological Department has said that there is less possibility of normal temperatures in the north and northwest areas for three to four days. The department has expressed the possibility of a cold wave in many states including Delhi and Uttar Pradesh. During this period, extreme cold conditions may also occur.

The IMD has predicted heavy rains in South Kerala and Lakshadweep including Tamil Nadu over the next few years.
