About 174 million jobs may be lost this year in the global travel and tourism industry if current restrictions to curb the spread of the Coronavirus remain in place, the World Travel & Tourism Council warned on Friday.
Though alarming, the projection is lower than expected, largely because China registering a strong recovery in domestic travel and rebounds in other countries.
The council had warned of the loss of 197 million jobs worldwide in a sector hugely reliant on economically. Travel restrictions were imposed in view of the Coronavirus pandemic, banning flights from abroad and affecting hospitality sectors in many nations.
