'Personal Liberty A Govt Favour': Omar Abdullah On Mehbooba Mufti's Alleged Detention

Former J&K Chief Minister and PDP President Mehbooba Mufti has alleged that the Police has forcibly and illegally detained her at her residence. His daughter Iltija Mufti called the media and informed that she along with her mother have been forcibly put under house arrest in order to prevent them from visiting the house of arrested PDP leader Waheed Ur Rehman in Pulwama.

Mufti further wrote that there is no limit to the cruelty of the Central Government. Waheed was arrested on baseless charges and I am not even allowed to console his family. Even my daughter Iltija has been kept under house arrest as she too wanted to meet Wahid's family.

NC vice president Omar Abdullah accused the Jammu and Kashmir administration of treating personal liberty as a favour.

"Parking a truck in front of our gates is now standard operating procedure for this admin. They did the same to my father recently to stop him from praying. Personal liberty is treated as a favour by the govt, to give & withdraw at will, with no interference from the judiciary," Omar Abdullah wrote on Twitter.

On Twitter, Mehbooba Mufti also shared letters written to police chiefs and officers about visiting Wahid Parra's family. In fact, on Friday, while Mehbooba Mufti was going to meet the relatives of Wahid Parra in Pulwama, the policemen guarding her stopped her from leaving her house. Wahid Para is a close aide of Ms Mufti, who has been arrested by the NIA in Delhi. Parra is accused of financially helping the terrorist organisation Hizbul Mujahideen.
