An investigation has also been ordered into the incident, as per V Balakrishnan, Inspector General of Police, Central Zone, Tiruchirappalli.
The chariot festival is an annual celebration at the Appar Madam temple, and NDTV quoted officials saying that the power line above the site it usually deactivated to prevent accidents. However, it was assumed this time that the chariot would not be tall enough to touch it, but it did because its height was extended by decorative elements.
