Tripura Govt Department Employees Ordered To PM’s Rally Amid Centre’s Curbs

While the Centre has imposed 50% attendance curbs on its employees for physical attendance in view of rising coronavirus cases in Delhi and elsewhere in the country, staff of the Tripura government’s Labour Directorate and West District Labour  have been directed to attend a public address by Prime Minister Narendra Modi today in Agartala.

The Prime Minister is due to inaugurate a new terminal of the MBB Airport, launch the Mission 100 Vidyajyoti Schools, and the Mukhyamantri Tripura Gram Samriddhi Yojana to be held in Swami Vivekananda Maidan in Agartala.

States like Maharashtra, West Bengal, Karnataka, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, and others are implementing restrictions in light of the possibility of a third wave of coronavirus infections, but here it is being seen that government employees themselves are being asked to gather for rallies.

In response to calls for postponing elections amid rising cases driven by the omicron variant, the Election Commission stated that ‘all parties want state polls to be conducted on time’. It has not imposed any specific restrictions on political rallies.
