Trump Impeachment: House Votes 223-205 As Democrats Ask Pence To Strip Trump of Power

The House of Representatives on Tuesday night voted 223 to 205 to implore Vice-President Pence to declare President Donald Trump “incapable of executing the duties of his office and to immediately exercise powers as acting president.”

As Democrats barrel forward to impeach US President Donald Trump, Vice President Mike Pence, before the vote, refused to invoke the 25th Amendment to oust Trump from office.

Pence wrote a letter to House Speaker and Democrat leader Nancy Pelosi, refusing to take action under the 25th Amendment on Trump. He also urged Congress to pay attention to the transfer of power to Biden and avoid impeachment.

On Wednesday, Pelosi spoke of impeachment in the House, holding Trump responsible for the violence that erupted on Wednesday in the Capitol. Pelosi had asked Pence to remove Trump from his post, by invoking the 25th Amendment. If not, the House will move an impeachment motion against Trump.

The 25th amendment to the US Constitution gives the Vice President the authority to remove the President and other House majority leaders from office if they are not qualified.
